These pictures are of Olga Beach in Hadera. Hadara is located north of Netanya (about a 1 & 1/2 hour drive from Jerusalem). I remember Hadara as being a sleepy malaria invested swamp. Believe me when I say that it is NO longer the case. We saw beautiful apartment buildings, shopping areas- a very modern small city. And yes, there still is old Hadera with small old houses and dusty streets.
As I have said many times, Israel has an amazingly diverse terrain in spite of its very small size. And the beaches are as diverse in its terrain as the rest of the country. You can access some beaches simply by walking from the street or boardwalk onto the sand as in the beaches in Tel Aviv. To access other beaches you need to walk down a hill or a cliff as in the case of Olga Beach in Hadera. There are sandy beaches where you walk directly from the sand into the water and other beaches where you have to walk on a rocky coast to access the water. Olga beach has both kinds of terrain.
Now to Olga Beach: You do need to walk down a hill or small cliff to get to the beach as the first two pictures show you. I was standing in the same place and just turned from the right to the left to get these two pictures.
If you would like a more private quiet beach experience just walk south along the shore next to the cliffs. The remaining pictures are the scenes we saw as we walked along the rocky shore in and around a few of the many "bays or inlets".
As you can see it is a beautiful place to feel far away from people and the hustle and bustle. To see a larger format of a particular picture just click on the picture itself.
