We were blessed to hike at one of our favorite spots with four of our five Seattle grandchildren. We hiked from the 5,000 to the 6,000 foot level of Mt Rainier's 14,000 feet total height.
The first two pictures show the view with our back to Mt Rainier. The last two pictures are of the mountain itself at about the 6,000 foot point. In the second picture you will see Mt Adams. Mt Rainier is one of four mountains in the Cascade Mountain range-Mt Baker, Mt Rainier, and Mt Adams are located in Washington. The most southern mountain is Mt St Helens located in Oregon.
The next two pictures are of Mt Rainier at the 6,000 foot point. Notice the waterfall and note that the "snow" you see is actually glacier. (the Nisqually glacier) The wild meadow flowers were just starting to make their appearance. If we had come two weeks later a large portion of the ground would have been covered in wild flowers.
The remaining pictures are of Cannon Beach walking and looking southward from Haystack Rock (The huge rock that is behind the seagull). The first picture was taken near sunset just before a storm arrived. The rest of the pictures were taken the day after the storm. Note that the Oregon coast has an abundance of sea stacks doting its coastline. Haystack is the largest and most famous of them.
